About Jordin Sparks defending the Jonas Brothers

I watched the MTV VMA award show and I heard what Jordin Sparks said when she made her “slut” comment.

Yes, I was a bit shocked when she said the part about nobody wanting to be a slut BUT I also realized she was disturbed about the jokes that were being made concerning the Jonas Brothers, their belief system and the fact that they all (including Jordin Sparks) wear promise rings.

I believe her exact comment was:

“I just have one thing to say about promise rings. It’s not bad to wear a promise ring, because not everybody — guy or girl — wants to be a slut.”

Later on Jordin had this to say:

“I wish I would’ve worded it differently — that somebody who doesn’t wear a promise ring isn’t necessarily a slut — but I can’t take it back now. It was a split-second thing, and it came out kind of wrong. Still, I don’t regret it.”

I have a lot of admiration for Jordin because she did stick up for the Jonas Brothers. I think that was the intent of her comment in the first place.

Yes, she had regrets about the wording of what she said but she doesn’t regret what she said OR why.

I can respect that.

I think the Jonas Brothers are gentlemen and Jordin Sparks is quite a lady.

I watched her on Fox News last night. Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes interviewed her on their show. I thought the interview went well and it give viewers a chance to see another side to Jordin.

I also learned that she sang backup for Michael W. Smith at one time.

How cool is THAT!?

I had to do a double take when I heard her say that. I missed Idiot Russell Brand’s comments about the Jonas Brothers. Last night should have been “Pick on the Jonas Brother’s” night instead of the MTV VMA Awards.

I don’t think that teenagers, guy or girl, is necessarily a “slut” if they wind up having sex. But I can see how other teens might see it that way.

I think we have to handle these discussions with our teens in an appropriate way. MTV failed last night in many ways. I’m still trying to clean up the puke from it all.

Dear Jonas Brothers

Please stay true to who you are!

Don’t listen to what Russell Brand said at the MTV VMA award ceremony last night.

Russell Brand is an ass!

Keep wearing your promise rings.

I think it’s great that you want to wait for the right person to come along before you have sex.

It’s admirable as well as a positive message you are sending to young people.

Good for you and keep up the good work!

Russell Brand was an MTV Nightmare

Yes, I have been watching MTV since the early 80’s. Yes, I watched the MTV VMA awards last night. Yes, I was disgusted by Russell Brand. He’s an MTV Horror that needs to go back to the UK where he belongs.

I don’t think Russell Brand had any business trying to insert his thoughts about our politics. Again, somebody else trying to make the Presidential Election about race and more Bush bashing.

What did he mean when he said use a Condom Become a Republican? What does that mean? Anybody out there want to spell it out for me? Was he trying to say that Republicans don’t use condoms? What was his point? Who cares?

The Jonas Brother’s bashing was over the top. The Jonas Brothers are young men who happen to be Christians. They have made a pact to not have sex until they are married and there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with that.

Russell Brand is the exact opposite of the Jonas brothers. Maybe he was insecure OR intimidated by them.

I thought the MTV VMA award ceremony was supposed to be more about the awards and the music. It seems they tried to insert more shock than anything else. I kept thinking that they should get on with the next category or go to a commercial break.

Perhaps my time could be better spent than to watch MTV.
