Will you join the Oprah Winfrey Boycott?

The Florida Federation of Republican Women has launched a boycott against Oprah Winfrey’s TV show and magazine because the talk queen has said she will not have Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin on her show until after the election.

Democrat Barack Obama — whom Winfrey is supporting for president — was on “Oprah” twice before he announced his run for president, in January 2005 and in October 2006. Winfrey has said she will have neither party’s candidates on her show while they are running for their respective offices.

But the 58-year-old federation, with 4,500 members, says Winfrey should have Palin on her show, given how important Palin’s run is for women.

“She is an icon, and set her herself up to be such a women’s rights and women’s issues person. To have the first vice president of our lifetime on the Republican ticket being a woman and to sit it out regardless of what her personal political beliefs were was disingenuous, we felt,” the group’s first Vice President Cindy Graves told “FOX & Friends” on Wednesday morning.

Graves, 50, says she used to watch “Oprah” and occasionally bought her magazine. She told FOXNews.com that the group has been joined by women all over the country since launching the boycott last Saturday.

“People from Southern California, Tennessee, Texas, Colorado, Rhode Island, just about every state in the union. We’ve also had a tremendous response from Democrats and Independents who are supporting McCain, and Hillary supporters,” she said.

As for the effect of the boycott so far on Oprah’s TV ratings and magazine subscription, Graves said Winfrey is “keeping that quiet.”

Winfrey reacted strongly Friday to a report posted on the Drudge Report Web site that claimed she and “a couple of her top people are adamantly” against booking Palin on her show.

“The item in today’s Drudge Report is categorically untrue,” Winfrey said in a statement sent to news organizations in reaction to the Drudge Report’s posting. “There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over.”

That said, Winfrey used her show to introduce Obama to America’s women voters, and has endorsed and campaigned with the Democratic nominee. She also was very visible at Obama’s nomination acceptance speech in Denver last month.

Winfrey and her executive producer Sheri Salata are also big contributors to Obama’s campaign.

Winfrey’s staff reportedly is sharply divided on booking Palin.

“Half of her staff really wants Sarah Palin on,” a source told Drudge. “Oprah’s Web site is getting tons of requests to put her on, but Oprah and a couple of her top people are adamantly against it because of Obama.”

People not so sure about Oprah

nobama-noprah

Oprah is a new-age freak.  She is a bit of everything and nothing of the truth. She has her own gospel, her own opinion of God without opening up the only way to God leading many down the path to hell..like many other false teachers, preachers and con artists.  she will endorse anything except the truth of Christ…so if Obama has a dream to be ‘a world leader’ she wants to be his media liaison.  That’s what we are in now…the predictions of Christ Himself in Mathew 24-25.

What do you think of this God Tube video about Oprah?

I’m not too thrilled with Oprah having endorsed Nobama either. Maybe we should start referring to her as Noprah?

I wonder if Oprah will give Sarah Palin some time on her show?

Barack Obama + Oprah Winfrey = The next President & Vice President of the United States

If Oprah Winfrey would be Barack Obama’s running mate then I would be the first one to vote for Obama and I don’t care that I’m registered as a republican! THAT would be the TEAM for CHANGE.

Moby says: “i’m not criticizing madonna”

moby

i was just reading about madonna / october 11, 2007

Hi Moby -

Yes, I read your blog from time to time. You really do confuse me but somehow I think that maybe you even confuse yourself.

You say that you are not criticizing Madonna and then you follow it with a “BUT” which tells me that not only are you criticizing her BUT that you are criticizing people that have more money and resources than you do. Am I wrong?

Why shouldn’t people always set their standards as high as they can go? How do you know what she does with her money? Do you really know? No, I don’t think you do because if you did you might not be complaining about it. Yes, I see it as a complaint.

Maybe Madonna donates a portion of what she makes to charity. If she’s got something that means something to her and to other people and she puts her money into it then why shouldn’t she make a gazillion dollars and what’s it to you anyway?

Sure, how much money a person has doesn’t define who they are.. it’s what they do with it that counts, right? So if she wants to buy houses all over the world she’s entitled to it, right?

Oh and just because rich people have “things” that they do or have with their money doesn’t mean they should stop earning money. Should Oprah stop being one of the richest women in the United States because you might think she has too much OR are you just jealous of those that have more than you do?

Why can’t you be happy for Madonna? Why can’t you be happy for those that are able to make lots of money and be successful at it? Why can’t you yourself just be happy?

If I had the funds I would have a house in Nebraska, Texas, Washington State, and Greece. Why is that so wrong? If that is so wrong then why did you feature your crib on MTV’s cribs?

You say that you are not a crusty lefty but I really think that maybe you are! I suppose you like higher taxes too, eh?

If you don’t like having money then I’ll be more than happy to take what you don’t want! I’ve got lots of charities I could then turn it over to. I also have kids I’d like to be able to afford to put through college.

Are you really THAT pissed off at the world?

Kudos to Sinéad O’Connor

I just love that she went on the Oprah Winfrey show today to speak out about her Bi Polar disorder. I think more celebrities should do what they can to show society that they are just regular people that have problems and health issues just like everybody else.

Was Jay Z at the VMAs ?

When in the heck are they going to get married? Maybe they should just do the Oprah thing, huh?

Justin Timberlake And Britney Spears

Now that Justin Timberlake is not together any more with Cameron Diaz he can get on with his life. Justin is the marrying kind and Cameron is not.

I saw Cameron on the Oprah show a couple of years ago and she made it crystal clear she was not interested in ever being married.

Have you heard the words to Justin’s songs lately? I think they were meant for Cameron. It’s obvious that he loves Cameron more than she loves him. Don’t you just hate that?

Ultimately, I’m hoping that Justin and Britney get back together. They should have stayed together. Perhaps Britney has learned whatever she thought she needed to learn and now that can get back together. But, will Justin have her back?

I’d like to see it happen. How about you?

Denver Post

This text is from a county emergency manager out in the central part of Colorado after today’s snowstorm.

WEATHER BULLETIN

Up here, in the Northern Plains, we just recovered from a Historic event— may I even say a “Weather Event” of “Biblical Proportions” — with a historic blizzard of up to 44″ inches of snow and winds to 90 MPH that broke trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of communities and cut power to 10’s of thousands.

FYI

George Bush did not come. FEMA did nothing. No one howled for the government. No one blamed the government. No one even uttered an expletive on TV. Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton did not visit. Our Mayor did not blame Bush or anyone else. Our Governor did not blame Bush or anyone else, either. CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX or NBC did not visit - or report on this category 5 snowstorm. Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards. No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House. No one looted. Nobody - I mean Nobody demanded the government do something. Nobody expected the government to do anything, either. No Larry King, No Bill O’Rielly, No Oprah, No Chris Mathews and No Geraldo Rivera. No Shaun Penn, No Barbara Striesand, No Hollywood types to be found.

Nope, we just melted the snow for water. Sent out caravans of SUV’s to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars. The truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn’t ask for a penny. Local restaurants made food and the police and fire departments delivered it to the snowbound families. Families took in the stranded people - total strangers. We fired up wood stoves, broke out coal oil lanterns or Coleman lanterns. We put on extra layers of clothes because up here it is “Work or Die”. We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out of a mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that trades votes for ’sittin at home’ checks.

Even though a Category “5″ blizzard of this scale has never fallen this early, we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves. “In my many travels, I have noticed that once one gets north of about 48 degrees North Latitude, 90% of the world’s social problems evaporate.” It does seem that way, at least to me. I hope this gets passed on. Maybe SOME people will get the message. The world does Not owe you a living.
