Sixteen and Pregnant
It’s not trendy and it is not fabulous OR glamorous. Teenage pregnancy is downright sad for the teen and neglect of the parents for laying down the rules and not following through to make sure that the rules are being followed.
My teen thinks I’m strict but looking back and knowing what’s going on in today’s world I’m glad that we have rules and that we follow through on them.
My daughter has a friend that she has known since elementary school that is going to have a baby in March. She told me about it last night. My daughter says that she has respect for her friend for going through high school pregnant and for making the decision to keep the baby.
We also think that there is another friend of hers that is pregnant. Everybody is speculating because she’s starting to be a bit on the pudgy side and every time one of their friends confronts her about being pregnant she just laughs.
Is that the right reaction? I don’t know. I think if it were me and somebody at school accused me of being pregnant I would be ticked off. I wouldn’t laugh about it. Would you?
I sure hope that these girls are not trying to follow in the footsteps of Jamie Lynn Spears.
If you are a parent of a teen do not allow your teen to hang out with just anybody. You have to make sure you know the friends that they are spending time with and you have to pick up the phone and communicate with the parents of their friends to make sure that they will be home when the kids are hanging out.
Parents have to follow-up and stick to the rules.
